So how do you create an accountability system? Many of you won’t do it either out of lack of structure, lack of skills, or lack of being willing to face your fears.
Here are a few tips…
1. Write it down. Trust me it works. I can’t remember the goals I had in my head yesterday if I don’t write it down. Better yet, create a vision board, that puts your goals and aspirations in front of you so that you can review them on a daily basis. Put them on your frig or your dresser mirror to keep them in focus.
2. Announce it to everyone. Don’t you think you are more likely to keep a promise that you proclaim to everyone, as opposed to keeping it to yourself? Nuff said.
3. Create a Reward. If I do this, then I can allow myself some sort of simple reward. Postpones things you really want until you achieve your goals.
4. Similarly, create a penalty. If I don’t make this goal I won’t allow myself to go to this ball game, and I am really looking forward to this game.
These are just a few ideas. You can probably think of more.
Make sure your goals are realistic and attainable and just have fun with it. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t reach your goals. Just keep plugging away. You will be a better person for it.
